Estepona is one of the most up and coming towns on the Costa del Sol. It has everything you could want from a seaside town, the beautiful weather, relaxing lifestyle, gorgeous cuisine, with the added bonus that it is quieter than the other most popular cities on the southern Spanish Coast.
Most of the jobs in Estepona are based around the retail and hospitality sectors, but as with many costal cities along the south of Spain, there are opportunities in the property market as well (but a little knowledge of Spainish is required)! It does have to be said though that not having a strong grasp on the language will not hinder your employment options by too much, as many locals are able to communicate fluently in English. There are always schools looking for English Language teachers or businesses looking for translators if your Spanish is up to scratch.

Granada is very easy to get around on foot. Its compact size means that everything is in a short radius. There is a bus service covering the metropolitan area that runs from 07:00 – 23:00, and €41 will get you unlimited travel for a month. There is also a metro line connecting many of the neighbourhoods together, and if all else fails, taxis are reasonably priced. There isn’t a need for a car here as the city is small and not four-wheel friendly. The city is home to its own airport, so getting anywhere internationally or domestically isn’t an issue. Granada is also linked to Madrid, Barcelona and Sevilla (among others) via train lines.
Accommodation prices are very reasonable when compared to other cities in Spain, and there is a wide range on offer to suit any kind of need. Albaicin is very popular with expats as it balances both modern and antique architecture, and is in great proximity to the city centre (about 15 minutes walk). This is not a flat neighbourhood however, so bear that in mind on really hot days. Time has stood still in Sacromonte, with its impromptu flamenco gatherings, and La Crus is the residential and working quarter that hosts incredible tapas bars. La Chana is 10 minutes bus ride from the centre, but is one of the most beautiful residential neighbourhoods in the city.
There is also plenty of things to do in such a vibrant city. The fortified palace of Alhambra is europe’s love letter to Moorish culture, and is one of the top attractions in the city. There are many ways to slip the cue with a selected ticket but it does get busy so book in advance. As mentioned, you just have to see a flamenco show in Sacromonte which starts around 21:00. Some offer just a show, but there are many where you can eat whilst watching this traditional, lively dance. Window shoppers will love the Calle Alcaicería market near the Cathedral de Granada, where anything from leather goods to spices can be bargained for.
