Moving to Sweden? We have regular vehicles servicing all of your Swedish and Scandinavian relocation needs.
From Surrey to Stockholm or Madrid to Malmo; let Matthew James take the stress out of your removals to Sweden.
We can move a single item whether a Grand-piano, picture or a TV as part of our European transit service, this provides a cost effective solution to transport that extra item you want overseas. We offer this service based on a door to door service with weekly departures throughout Europe. This service can be used in many ways from replacing the bed in your holiday home to delivering the Christmas presents in time for Christmas!
A part load service is a cost effective way to move your goods to and from Sweden. The reason this service is so cost effective is that you share the vehicle with other consignments and therefore the vehicle costs are also shared. All consignments are individually prepared, numbered, labelled and inventoried to ensure all items are correctly delivered to you. The main advantage of a part load service is that you will receive the Matthew James service of excellence at the most cost effective price.
A dedicated service gives you the flexibility to choose your collection and delivery dates. This service means you will have exclusive use of one of our bespoke removal vehicles. This service guarantees the Matthew James service of excellence and peace of mind that your moving dates can be fixed, allowing you the convenience to make travel arrangements and plan your arrival. All delivery dates are subject to EU laws on driving time. We can confirm the timing prior to any booking.

Sweden boasts some of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes in Europe, ranging from long sandy beaches in the south to rolling arctic forests in the north. Despite its northern latitude, Sweden enjoys a temperate climate with an average rainfall level considerably lower than the global average (the UK’s average annual rainfall is 1,220mm while Sweden’s is virtually half that at 624mm). Winters in Sweden can be a shock for some expats moving from warmer climates. From December to early March, temperatures can often drop below zero and the sun may only shine for several hours per day. However, summers in the south of the country – where its capital city, Stockholm, is situated and where 70% of the population lives – are warmer than almost everywhere in the UK and even match temperatures experienced along Spain’s northern coast.
The language barrier can be a potential obstacle when relocating to Sweden but fortunately most Swedes speak excellent English as it is taught in Swedish schools from an early age. Sweden has even been ranked as the best EEA nation for integration according to the Migration Integration Policy Index (MIPEX). Higher taxation means Swedish salaries are relatively modest when compared to similar economies. However, expats with Swedish residence permits will benefit significantly from Sweden’s expansive state social security network, which provides excellent free healthcare, education, security and childcare.
British citizens do not require a visa to enter Sweden as it is a member of the EU but you will need to have a valid passport. If you plan on living in Sweden for longer than a year you will need to register in the Swedish Population Register. Once registered, you will be issued with a personal identity number (personnummer), which are necessary for many day-to-day transactions such as opening bank accounts and dealing with authorities. If you are a European Economic Area (EAA) citizen, you will most likely have right of residence in Sweden. This means you may live in Sweden without needing a residence permit. If you are unsure of your position or you would like further information please visit the Swedish Embassy in London’s website.
