Alcohol & Drug Testing Policy
Here at Matthew James, we are firm believers in carrying out random tests on our employees, with their full consent, for any drug or alcohol misuse. The policy is included in our Employee Handbook and in any new employment contracts, so there are no surprises. Our policy ensures that employees are free of any substances that can affect not only an individual but also the image of the entire company.
Many of our employees drive company vehicles, or operate heavy machinery, during their working day, and they also visit customer premises, where we have a strong emphasis on keeping everybody safe.
With employees being clear on the process, there is zero tolerance for anyone found to be attending work under the influence of either type of substance.
We believe strongly that our policy can:
- help to ensure the safety of employees and customers.
- help to reduce absenteeism and productivity losses due to drug or alcohol use.
- help to create a substance-free workplace culture.
- help to protect the company from legal liability.
