EUROPEAN SHARED LOAD
A part/shared load service is a cost effective way to move your goods to and from your destination. The reason this service is so cost effective is that you share the vehicle with other consignments and therefore the vehicle costs are also shared. All consignments are individually prepared, numbered, labelled and inventoried to ensure all items are correctly delivered to you. The main advantage of a part load service is that you will receive the Matthew James service of excellence at the most cost effective price.

Belgium is famous its waffles, beer, and chocolate (as if that isn’t reason enough to move there), but did you also know that it is a country with the most castles per square kilometer? What draws so many expats to the country is its international communities, and its advantageous location in regards to the rest of Europe!
Belgium is split into three separate and almost autonomous regions. Flanders (Dutch/Flemish) to the north, Wallonia (French) to the south, and the capital city of Brussels (officially recognised as bilingual). An estimated 750,000 expats (almost a 10th of the population) call the country their home, and around 25,000 of these are fellow Brits. A fare few of these British expats live in Antwerp due to this community, and the fact that the majority of Flemish speakers also speak English. It’s also ranked as one of the trendiest cities in travel articles. The UNESCO World Heritage city of Bruges is also another popular city for those who enjoy a fantastic balance of history and lively, modern living (families are specifically attracted to the lower property prices). Growing in popularity is the city of Gent, fast becoming a strong research and development centre (which also holds the largest cultural festival in Europe), and Waterloo is a popular for is international schools and cheaper housing options.

Belgium is a good destination for those working in public affairs or social policy. But as many people in the country are bilingual, it is important to remember that when getting a job, a knowledge of the official language will put you at a great advantage. Jobs are also available in high skill areas such as engineering and computing, but expect that you will need to be fluent in French or German. Many of these jobs are very well paid, which goes along with the high cost of living in the country. Employers do, however, pay a 13th month ‘bonus’ which is usually awarded at the end of the financial year.
Moving to Belgium is relatively simple, although in recent years, high levels of immigration have forced the government to implement tighter restrictions on those that want to become permanent residents in the country. If you are unsure on which kind of visa you require, just visit this site for all the information you need. Belgians have quite a strict administrational agency, so it is incredibly important that all letters, calls or summons are responded to quickly. Anyone wanting to stay for longer than three months will be classified as a ‘resident’. You therefore have 8 working days to go to your local municipal administration office/town hall in order to be registered on the Foreigner’s register. This will enable you to get a residency card. Contacting the commune in your local area will enable you to find out the details of your local town hall.
