REMOVALS TO AND FROM ROME
Moving to or from Rome? We have regular vehicles servicing all of your Italy relocation needs.
From full relocations to shared loads, baggage and even single items; let Matthew James take the stress out of your removals to Rome.

EUROPEAN SHARED LOAD
A part/shared load service is a cost effective way to move your goods to and from your destination. The reason this service is so cost effective is that you share the vehicle with other consignments and therefore the vehicle costs are also shared. All consignments are individually prepared, numbered, labelled and inventoried to ensure all items are correctly delivered to you. The main advantage of a part load service is that you will receive the Matthew James service of excellence at the most cost effective price.

EUROPEAN PREMIUM SERVICE
A direct service combines Matthew James’ service of excellence with the added advantage of a dedicated collection date and express delivery timescale. Handling of your effects is minimised as they remain on the same vehicle throughout. Although your delivery will be carried out in conjunction with other clients’ consignments, this means you will share the cost of the vehicle and your consignment will be prioritised for onward delivery typically within 7-10 days of collection.

A dedicated service gives you the flexibility to choose your collection and delivery dates. This service means you will have exclusive use of one of our bespoke removal vehicles. This service guarantees the Matthew James service of excellence and peace of mind that your moving dates can be fixed, allowing you the convenience to make travel arrangements and plan your arrival. Regarded as the first ever metropolis, the history of Italy’s capital city dates back 10,000 years. But Rome is not just the source of western civilisation, with a unique look that places ancient architecture adjacent to modern offices and living accommodation, it is also a fantastic location when considering moving for a vibrant change in pace and lifestyle. Fun fact, legends say this city was founded by two children who were nursed by a she-wolf.

Before moving it is worth knowing that the job market in Rome is fiercely competitive, and university qualifications are taken very seriously. Industries that favour expat employment are marketing and communication, media, services and tourism and education. It is advisable to actually be in Rome when job hunting, as the ‘who you know’ culture remains advantageous. So socialising is a key aspect of finding any job. Having a good level of Italian vocabulary is key here, and is highly favoured by employers.
It has to be said that public transport is not the best in Rome, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t tricks to getting around. If it’s possible, try and live as centrally as you can, as this will eliminate the need to rely on a majority of the metro lines and buses. If by choice or necessity, moving further away but keeping close to a tram line is a good option, as these tend to be more reliable. And don’t drive. Rome rivals Los Angeles when it comes to traffic.
Depending on where you live in the city, rents can range from €700 – €2150 p/m obviously depending on location and the amount of people renting that property. You really are spoilt for choice when it comes to which area you choose to move to, as each is enticing. For expats with children, Aventino (centrally located and quiet), Monteverde (luscious parks and good schools, but not very well connected to public transport), and Balduina (a lovely amalgamation of both) are fantastic options. Trastevere is certainly the most popular destination for young expats looking for a bit more of a faster pace in their life, and a need to be in the thick of the hustle and bustle. Just keep in mind that Rome’s bureaucracy is famous for its over complication so make sure to leave a little more time that you think you need when renting/purchasing property.
You will certainly not run out of things to do in this ancient wonder. Highlights include The Vatican, which is essentially its own country inside the city (local tip though, don’t go on Wednesdays or Sundays and the Pope’s public appearance generates swarms of devotees), and the Colosseum which is the largest amphitheatre ever built. The first Sunday of every month is when you can visit many of these sights for free, but this privilege is reserved for those with residency. Putting a modern twist on all this history is the ‘Welcome to Rome’ exhibition which is a multi-media experience of the history of the city. Culture hunters will want to visit the Teatro dell’Opera, and the Testaccio Market.
